The Medical Family Therapy Program offers both a master and doctoral degree program. We offer a Master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy and a Doctoral degree in Medical Family Therapy.
We will now be accepting applications for both degree programs (M.A. and Ph.D.) until January 3, 2020 with a programs start date of fall 2020.

Degree-Seeking Application Information
The department has one admissions review period per year with an application deadline of January 3, 2020 for an expected fall entry term. After an initial screening, applicants may be invited to campus for group and individual interviews with program faculty. Admission recommendations are made after the interviews and when all application documents have been received by the Graduate Education Admission Office: transcripts, GRE scores, three letters of recommendation, resume, and a professional goal statement. Doctoral applicants are also required to submit a Scholarship Sample (e.g., Thesis, Manuscript, Journal article).

We are looking for a one-to-two page document that answers some simple questions: Why do you want to obtain a degree in MedFT or MFT? How will this program fit into your future professional goals/vision? Feel free to expand as much as you like!

2020 Admissions Interviews
Our program will hold admissions interviews on Friday, January 31 (Ph.D.) and Monday, February 3 (M.A.). Once the application deadline has been reached (January 3, 2020), we will review applications and send invitations for interviews to selected candidates by January 10. Not everyone who sends in an application will receive an interview invitation. The department has a limited number of assistantships to be awarded for each academic year. The graduate assistantship application deadline is January 15, 2020.

Upon admission and prior to beginning clinical training students are required to have a criminal background check through the University's Office of Clinical Education Compliance.
The Medical Family Therapy Program (M.A. and Ph.D.) will accept 12 transferred credit hours. This includes students transferring into the program and current students taking courses outside the program.
