Rutschman has published and presented widely on topics related to health law, intellectual
property, innovation in the life sciences, and law and technology. Recent presentations
have covered topics related to vaccines and other biotechnologies, healthcare blockchain,
e-health and artificial intelligence in medicine. Her writing has appeared in UCLA
Law Review, Arizona Law Review, Yale Law Journal Forum and Duke Law and Technology
Review, among others. Her commentary pieces have been published by The Huffington
Post and The Conversation and reprinted in Scientific American, Newsweek Japan and
newspapers around the U.S., including the Chicago Tribune. Her ongoing book, Vaccines
as Technology: Innovation, Barriers and the Public Interest, is under contract with
Cambridge University Press.

Rutschman has been named a visiting fellow by the Centre for Intellectual Property Policy & Management Fellowship at the University of Bournemouth in the United Kingdom (2019); a Manzo Scholar in Patent Law by DePaul University College of Law (2019); a Health Law Scholar by the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics (2018); a Wiet Life Sciences Law Scholar by the Beazley Institute for Health Law and Policy at Loyola University Chicago (2018); and a Bio Intellectual Property Scholar by the American Society of Law, Medicine & Ethics (2017). She received a grant from the European Commission/Foundation for Science & Technology Grant in 2009-2013.

Rutschman joined the SLU LAW faculty in 2018. She previously taught at DePaul University College of Law as the inaugural Jaharis Fellow in Health Law and Intellectual Property (2016-2018). Rutschman was a consultant to the World Health Organization in 2015-2016, as well as a visiting guest lecturer in intellectual property at Uppsala Law School (Sweden) in Fall 2015.
