Introduction to Online Teaching

The Introduction to Online Teaching is a 4-week, fully-online seminar that provides a pedagogical foundation for Saint Louis University faculty who are new to the online teaching environment. By the end of the course, faculty will have a draft design plan for an online course designed to meet the University’s Online Course Design Rubric.

The Introduction to Online Teaching is offered multiple times per year and is offered through the University’s learning management system (LMS), which currently is Blackboard. The course requires a commitment of approximately 3 hours per week over a 4-week period to complete. It provides faculty an opportunity to gain the experience of an online “student” and to experience a fully-online course that has been designed to align with the University’s Online Course Design Rubric.

Faculty enrolled in the course will receive a complimentary copy of the required textbook and will have ongoing access to the Blackboard course site even after the seminar ends. Those who successfully complete the seminar will have met the University’s policy requiring online faculty to receive formal preparation in online pedagogy.

For more information about this online seminar, please contact Sandy Gambill at sandy.gambill@slu.edu. To find out when the course will be offered next, please see the Reinert Center’s Events page.
